DryShield is committed to providing Builder, Developers, Architects, Contractors and Homeowners with the advice to make informed decisions about the types of Warranties available for their waterproofing project. Many “Warranties” do not offer any real benefit to the client and can leave them with financial loss or a delayed project. It is therefore necessary to understand the types of warranties available and what is covered should the waterproofing failure.
The term ‘Warranty’ is used in several ways to describe what are often quite different forms of protection for the client.
A Warranty is a promise, assurance, or statement made by the warrantor about the existence or accuracy of specific facts or the condition, quality, quantity, or nature of a good or property. There are express and implied warranties, both of which are legally binding commitments
In Indian Waterproofing industry the Warranty of Waterproofing Application is provided by the “Applicator.” The Applicator buys material from different manufacturers and the applies as per productor manufacturers specifications. The Manufacturers so not offer any Warranty for the products or applications.
Product-Only Warranties
All the leading Waterproofing Product manufacturers in India offer a Products-Only warranties which are subject to various Terms & Conditions. A product warranty is a statutory requirement that supports the replacement of the product if it is defective in any way. The product warranty specifically excludes defects that result from poor workmanship and/or the installation of the product. In case of failure, most of the manufacturers do not accept the liability and may just do not honor the warrantee. Even if they accept the liability, they may just replace the product.
Waterproofing Guarantees
Provided by reputable waterproofing contractors, this is the most important form of waterproofing guarantee. The guarantee protects the client from defects in the design and application of the waterproofing.
Other aspects of the repair, such as opening and making good, are not covered under application guarantees. The client should discuss the guarantee to figure out inclusions and exclusions. However, if the waterproofing company ceases to exist the Guarantee is of no use. It is important to check the credentials of the Waterproofing contractor.
DryShield offers warranty for its Waterproofing Application. In some cases, the Warranty is backed by the manufacturers as per agreements between DryShield and the suppliers. DryShield Waterproofing Systems are supplied with complete warranties but be aware of the limitations. Unfortunately, in some cases these warranties are incorrectly misunderstood. DryShield offers a detailed Warrantee Certificate to its esteemed clients. While DryShield has commitment to fulfill the liabilities as per the Warranty Certificate, the responsibility of the clients is also clearly mentioned in the said Certificate.
Limited Repair Guarantees
In some cases, the customer does not get the complete treatment done and/or the Waterproofing Contractor does an application which is not covered under any warranty/guarantee. A typical example for this would be “Negative Side” Waterproofing of basements, where warranties are not offered. These are quite common within the waterproofing industry. In such cases the ‘guarantee’ is limited to the labor only and material cost must be given by the client. This is pre decided between the Waterproofing Contractor and the client.
This means that the fixing of the leak is limited to an already proved cost. If the repair is not successful for that limited cost, the attempt at repair is concluded, or the extra work and materials needed become chargeable.
